An access log is a text file containing a complete report on all the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All of the files that were requested in one way or another shall be included, so when you have a PHP script program and a visitor opens only the home page, for example, you might find many files inside the log. This is because there are elements on the home page that are embedded - parts of other pages, graphics, etc. All these files shall be listed in the access log, so you can get a detailed picture of the way your Internet site functions. The info is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes referred to as "raw data" too. An access log shows the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, and also the user’s IP address, world-wide web browser and Operating System. More information, including the referrer site, is typically provided as well. A log file can be processed by various desktop applications for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats generated by your web server.

Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. Once you sign in to your shared web hosting account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button which will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. In case the option is active, you'll see a download link along with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and view it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you no longer need one, you can stop it with a click from the exact same section of the CP. You will still be able to access the already generated content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your sites inside a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll have the option to trigger or deactivate the generation of access logs with just a couple of mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting CP. You will find this feature in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access once you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is one click on the On button that you will see there. The feature can be enabled independently for any Internet site no matter if it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you'll find the full list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you may then view it manually or use some software on your computer. The log generation may be deactivated by simply changing the On option to Off in the Logs section of your CP.
